Smoked Salmon Dip

This is always a special sort of breakfast and always makes an appearance at family brunches.  It is also a wonderful appetizer or fancy kind of snack.  I don’t make it often (not sure why not), but it always makes everyone happy.  The only time-consuming part is making sure you remember to drip your yogurt to make cream cheese if you are making it yourself.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cream cheese (we use a 24-hour fermented yogurt has been dripped overnight)

  • ¼ cup yogurt or sour cream (we use 24-hour fermented yogurt)

  • 1 TBSP freshly lemon juice

  • 1 TBSP fresh dill, finely chopped

  • 8 oz smoked salmon (no sugar added), minced

  • ¼ tsp sea salt or salt to taste, depending on how salty your smoked salmon is

  • Lemon pepper

Directions:

  1. Whip the cream cheese and yogurt or sour cream together until well blended.

  2. Add the lemon juice and dill and mix.

  3. Add the smoked salmon and mix well - taste and then add the sea salt and lemon pepper as needed.

  4. Chill for an hour before serving. This is great with crackers, on toast or bagels, or even on sliced cucumber rounds.
